In the summer of 1977, at the age of 33, Bob Davis met the living Christ—whom he had learned about in his early childhood—and invited Jesus to take control of his life.
Much of his first five years in Christ found Bob attending church services, Bible conferences and seminars, listening to Christian radio, and performing volunteer ministry services. Yet, with so much variant doctrine, the inevitable result was confusion and frustration. But answers were on the way.
Bob spent 14 years in commercial broadcasting as an on-air personality before founding and for 17 years operating his own audio production company. His first opportunity to serve in Christian broadcasting came in 1982 with the forerunner of the ministry which has now become known as Basic Gospel. It was during this first exposure to the message of God’s grace in Christ Jesus where Bob began to solidify his faith, embracing his new life in Christ.
In the ensuing years of full-time radio ministry, Bob has used his considerable talent to communicate that message to others.
Says Bob, "I thank God I've had the opportunity to serve these many years. It has been an incredible journey of learning, growth, and opportunity for ministry."
Bob writes Inside the Studio, in which he recaps the previous week at Basic Gospel—both on the air and behind the scenes—to share with you the excitement of what God is doing through this ministry. Along with the eZine, he produces the Basic Gospel Weekend Edition, a 25 minute broadcast highlighting the most interesting calls and email questions from the Basic Gospel weekday broadcast.
Bob’s beloved wife Diane succumbed to cancer in October of 2006. He lives in Carrollton, Texas, and is father to Shellye and Rhonda, and is grandfather to five wonderful kids — Bobby, Haley, Matthew, Luke and Morgan.
