Hear, Believe, Live

Dear friend,

Get the word out.

It's what we do at Basic Gospel.

It is a simple, yet powerful mission. It's a mission that transforms people's lives.

As we begin 2015, let me say thank you for your help in getting the word out through the Basic Gospel radio broadcast, our internet presence and through our many resources.

You are making a difference.

You helped us get the word to Sab, a new listener to Basic Gospel. Sab lives in London, England. He often calls the broadcast with great questions. In one of our recent conversations, he shared this powerful story.

People are listening! I'm doing ministry with Hindu families and last week three people accepted Jesus Christ!  All the credit belongs to Jesus first, of course, but through Basic Gospel I learned so many things and so many doubts were cleared. I can easily do my ministry in England because of your service there. Your ministry is helping me to tell these people. That's why I listen every day.

Another person who listens every day is Aric from Childress, TX. Last November, Jeanna and I spent a weekend with Aric and his wife Brandi. I spoke at their church, Pease River Cowboy Church, and we visited with the Bible study group Aric leads each week.

I was thrilled to see how God is working through Aric and Brandi to help others hear, believe and live the good news of Jesus Christ. As we talked with the group, a lady named Betty said, "Through this study I've learned for the first time that God does not condemn me."

Working through our New Covenant Journey study guide helped Betty let go of years of guilt and condemnation and experience freedom and joy.

Aric called the broadcast recently to publicly thank everyone who prays and supports Basic Gospel. Here is what he had to say.

I've been equipped by the Lord, and a major contributor to that is Basic Gospel. I've been listening for over 20 years and it still is important for me to hear the basic gospel message – the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. I'm thankful for you all and I'm thankful to the listeners who support the ministry because I may have never come to this point in my life without them. I consider it an honor to stand with you; I consider myself a member of the team, and I pray that listeners who support Basic Gospel consider themselves ministers of the New Covenant.

One of my favorite stories is happening here at ministry headquarters. Jim and Bonnie Johnson attend our Wednesday noon-time Bible study. Galatians 5:1 sums up their story – "It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery."

With the strong influence of their former denomination, Jim and Bonnie took legalism to new heights all in hopes of securing eternal life. Instead of assurance and joy, their human effort filled them with fear and guilt.

In getting the Word to them, you've helped peel away layers of fear and guilt and open the door to real freedom. I know you will be encouraged by the note Bonnie sent to us.

As you know, I was a member of an organization that did not observe Christmas. It was considered one of those pagan holidays. I regret that my children and I missed out on so many family gatherings. But now, I can send Christmas cards, buy Christmas gifts, decorate, and enjoy the Christmas season without any guilt of doing so.

I even have a Christmas wreath on my front door. I look at it several times a day, giving thanks that I know the gospel and I can enjoy Christmas. I can be a part of the celebration – Jesus Christ's birthday. I love each and every one of you at Basic Gospel and thank you for being part of my life.

Richard read Bonnie's letter during one of our Christmas broadcasts. After hearing that particular program, our good friend Lisa had this to say: "Listening to the letter just humbled me and reminded me why I give to the ministry. Thanks for the reminder."

Your gifts to Basic Gospel help us get the word out. And getting the word out means more changed lives. It means more people hearing, believing and living the good news of Jesus Christ.

Can I count on you to renew your support in 2015? Please let me know by sending your first 2015 gift.

We live in a world filled with problems. It's a world filled with heartache and pain. It's a world filled with people looking for hope, forgiveness, life and freedom. It's a world that needs the love of Jesus Christ.

Thankfully, we can be part of the solution. Today, please take time to send your most generous gift to Basic Gospel. And when you do, would you include a note that simply says, "Bob, I want to help get the word out in 2015?" There are many others, people just like Sab, Aric and Brandi, Jim and Bonnie and Lisa, who need to hear. Together, let's get the word to them and watch how God transforms their lives.

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

In Christ's love and life,

Bob Christopher
