What is Grace?

Dear Friend,

I'd like to ask you a very important question... What is grace?

Why is this question so critical? Because grace is the heart and soul of the Gospel. In essence, grace is the good news!

Maybe you've heard grace described as "the unmerited favor of God toward man." And while this is certainly true, grace is so much more than that. And it's the so much more part of grace that people are experiencing because you've chosen to give!

You see, grace is the realm of our existence as believers. It's where we stand, live, and breathe both now and forever.

Grace is Christ in us, and us in Him.

So a more complete definition of grace would be God's work in Jesus Christ to make you spiritually alive and to empower you to live in this world as His child.

Unfortunately, that's not the way many believers view the grace of God. Far too often, Christians view grace as merely a covering for past sins—which means it's irrelevant to their daily lives. Not only is this biblically wrong, it's tragic.

The truth is that grace packs all the power you need for life and godliness!

And the reason it does is simple. You can't separate grace from the person and work of Jesus Christ. As John 1:14 tells us...

The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

God's grace isn't an abstract idea; it's embodied in Christ. To encounter Christ is to encounter grace. And to be filled with the power of grace is to be filled with the immeasurable power of Jesus Christ!

I want to help you hear, believe, and live God's grace even more by sending you a CD series Richard Peifer and I put together called, Grace Defined – Grace Lived Out.

This resource will help you deepen your faith as you learn that the things Jesus provided—life, forgiveness, justification, identity, security, freedom—are tangible expressions of God's indescribable grace to you!

Grace Defined – Grace Lived Out is my gift to say thanks for your donation this month to help reach more people around the world with the good news of Jesus.

Through your gifts to Basic Gospel, you help put the message of God's grace within reach of more people every day—showing them that once grace starts, it never quits... because Jesus never quits!

Just look at how your support helps listeners grab hold of the truth of God's grace...

I've learned that grace is the fierce, strong, shocking, surprising, heart-melting, intentional pursuit of God in giving us what we really need, even if that differs from what we thought we needed. Sandra

Thanks for showing me that grace is Christ himself! Simply replace the word "grace" with "Christ" and see how the Bible reads differently. David

Today, you reminded me that the grace of God is what saves us, sustains us, and will eventually bring us into the presence of God when we leave this empty shell. Grace is not a thing but a person—Jesus Christ. Elizabeth

For these friends, grace is the very heart and soul of who they are and how they live.

So please be sure to request your copy of Grace Defined – Grace Lived Out.

Thank you again for helping more people hear, believe and live the good news of Jesus Christ. I'm grateful for you!

Standing together in His grace,

Bob Christopher
