Jesus is the Reasonable Answer

Dear Friend,

Have you ever been asked questions like these?

Why does God in the Old Testament seem so different from Jesus in the New? How do you know the Bible is true? Did Isaiah and Daniel really write the books that carry their names? Was Jesus real? Did Jesus actually come back to life? How do you know a prophecy has come true? How can you explain the inconsistencies in the Bible?

These are the questions skeptics are asking. They sincerely want answers, but, for many, their search leads to toxic information that only fans the flames of doubt.

Many Christian leaders shy away from these difficult questions, because they are not sure how to answer. But these questions do have reasonable answers, because Christianity is a reasonable faith.

And a reasonable answer can make all the difference in someone coming to faith in Jesus. Jesse is one of these people. He had questions regarding Biblical statements that seemed to indicate he could lose his salvation. After listening to the podcast of the answer we gave earlier in the day, he wrote:

I want to cry – that was so nice of you all. I heard last night before bed. Will be listening again and again. God bless you and seriously thank you. Thank you.

Your faithful support makes these kinds of stories possible. You are reaching people who are asking the right questions, people who have grown weary of empty answers and are hungry for truth. But not only are people's doubts being erased, others are learning through the daily broadcast how to answer the question, just as Peter told us.

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect... (1 Peter 3:15)

Jesus is the first answer to all the tough questions. We know that everything in the Bible points to him, but the person consumed with fear and uncertainty can't see Jesus, at least not yet. This is why your "respectful answer" to them is so important.

We are most encouraged when we hear how your stories make a difference. God is using people just like you to help others lay aside their skepticism and come to him for life.

Jesus is the reasonable answer, and your prayers and gifts to Basic Gospel give his answer to everyone searching for meaning and purpose in their lives. Your gift today is vital to their journey. You can change a life like Kim's. She was ready for death, yet was afraid stopping current measures to keep her alive would jeopardize her salvation.

Thank you so much for your insight. It brought great joy and peace to my heart! I really felt stuck and now I feel free!!! But you're right, I do need to get stuff in order, so I'll be around for a bit longer; and by then who knows, Christ may come! God bless all of you. Basic Gospel has been my daily friend. Sickness brings isolation, in my case anyways, and you guys have helped me hope and cope every day. Thank you so much. God uses your ministry to set us captives free. God bless you.

As my thanks for your gift this month I want to send you a copy of Cold-Case Christianity by J. Warner Wallace. This is an excellent book, one that will help equip you to tackle the hard questions about Christianity. As Wallace wrote, “the historic truth claims of Christianity are under attack from every direction. If ever there was a time to study the case for the eyewitness reliability of the gospels, the time is now." You will love putting on your detective’s hat and examining the claims of Jesus.

We never need to be afraid of hard questions, because we have the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:15) revealing the answers to us. As long as we walk by grace through faith we can give answers that will help other do the same. Join with us now!

I look forward to hearing from you.

In Christ,

Bob Christopher
