What happens when a pastor takes to heart Paul's words in Acts 20:24 – "My only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God's grace?"
What happens when a brother in Christ abandons himself to God's Spirit and says, "Use me, Lord?"
Let me introduce you to two people whom you've equipped and encouraged to do the good works God prepared in advance for them to do (Ephesians 2:10).
Tim Roller is the pastor of GraceWay Fellowship in Plainfield, IN. He is a courageous man.
There are not very many pastors who recognize they've fallen short of their mandate to testify to the good news of God's grace.
With the encouragement of his good friend Ray, several key books, and the Basic Gospel radio broadcast, Tim made a declaration that has changed the course of his life and ministry.
"I am no longer an independent fundamentalist. Christianity isn't about following legalistic traditions. From this point forward, I am going to do like Philip and tell people the good news about Jesus. This is now the message and direction for this church."
Tim readily admits he was wrong in his views. That takes courage. Because of your prayers and gifts to Basic Gospel, you compelled Tim to take that step.
And today, there is a church in Plainfield, IN carrying out its task of testifying to the good news of God's grace.
Next, meet our good friend, Brad Heath.
Brad prays almost daily this simple prayer: “Use me, Lord.” This wasn’t always the case.
Brad struggled for years wondering if he was eternally saved and totally forgiven, but that all changed as he started listening regularly to Basic Gospel.
As his faith got anchored to the finished work of Jesus, his confidence and joy as a believer soared.
And his prayers changed because there is nothing more that he wants to do than share the good news with others.
Today, God is answering Brad’s prayers by connecting him to people who struggle as he did.
His solid words of encouragement—I like to call him Barnabas—are helping numerous believers around the country stand confidently in the finished work of Christ.
These two men, thanks to your generosity, are doing the works God prepared in advance for them to do. Through trust in the risen Christ, they are carrying out their unique roles within the body of Christ.
Let’s keep doing our part of getting the Word out so that others like Tim and Brad can confidently live out who they are as ministers of the New Covenant and ministers of reconciliation.
The church needs more Tim’s and Brad’s to rise up and courageously live out who they are in Christ. Your generous gift today will help more believers take up their unique place in the body…to carry out the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace…to pray earnestly, “Use me, Lord.”
As thanks for your gift I want to send you a copy of Be a Voice, a multi-CD teaching series that God has used as a catalyst for many to be a voice for the good news of Jesus within their spheres of influence. There is power in this truth, power that you need to rise up and live out who you are in Jesus.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Your brother in the Body of Christ,
