You and I are so familiar with the Christmas story that we sometimes forget how foreign it is to the world.
It's not the story itself. People know that Jesus was born in Bethlehem and placed in a manger. It's the "why" that's missed… It's the "why" that's been covered up by holiday hype.
It's the "why" the writer of Hebrews explains in Hebrews 10:5-10. He begins with these words, "When Christ came into the world…" This is the holy night we sing about and celebrate.
On that holy night Jesus inhabited a body, a body his Father prepared for him. He inhabited this body to carry out the will of His Father, as Hebrews 10:9 puts it, "I have come to do your will."
That will was two-fold. First, Jesus took on our flesh and blood to set aside the first covenant and to establish the New Covenant. That glorious moment happened when Jesus cried out, "It is finished!" from the cross. The Old Covenant ended, and the New was established.
And in this New Covenant God remembers your sins no more. If only more people knew their sins have been forgiven!
Then he did something else: "And by that will we have been sanctified (made holy) through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all" (Hebrews 10:10). Jesus Christ made you holy...set you apart to enjoy a relationship with God the Father.
This is the "why" of Christmas.
It's no wonder that the angel said to the shepherds, "Fear not, I bring you good tidings of great joy! Today in the city of David, a Savior has been born, Christ the Lord."
Thank you for helping others experience the joy of knowing Christ the Lord… like our friend Joshua who shared these encouraging words with us.
The men who are currently teaching through this ministry are biblically solid and teach "the Good News" – the Gospel of Christ! You will find no fluff or unbiblical teachings. Definitely worth sowing into.
But The BEST thing through many years is The Grace and Truth of Christ, without any extra-biblical or personal interpretations! You will be blessed if you're a baby or mature in Christ. It is so refreshing to hear the solid, plain, beautiful word of God, with its promises, assurance, boldness, and of all we must go through in this life as followers of Jesus Christ. It is freely and amply taught here, without hesitation.
All Glory to God for His true and genuine ministries to The Body of Christ.
Let's not allow the real story of Christmas be covered over by all the hype of the season. Let's continue to tell people the good news that a Savior was born, Christ the Lord.
We are encouraged by the progress toward meeting our $167,000 goal by December 31. Won’t you join the rest of Basic Gospel Nation to insure that we start 2018 ready to take advantage of new opportunities? There is nothing better than telling the Jesus story as often as we can, to as many people as we can.
