Moving deeper into the new year, it’s hard to believe that it’s already three weeks old! Too, as of yesterday, we in the USA have a new president whom many hope will lead our country in a just, moral, and capable way. In some respects it reminds me of the covenants God has made with us—out with the old, in with the new.
Now to our questions for this week. First…
Kurt from Detroit wants to know if the commandments in the Sermon on the Mount are a part of the New Covenant … or are we free from those also.
Eddie from Maryland called to ask why Jesus spoke in parables.
Calvin from Georgia wants to know if it is normal that he, as a Christian, suffers from depression, anxiety, and high blood pressure due to stress.
An anonymous eMail from someone who describes him- or herself as a former care-giver for a loved one who made decisions that ended “horribly”. What advice would we have?
As the new Donald Trump era begins, let us all pray for wisdom in leadership for President Trump and for the administrative leaders he is gathering around himself.
Let’s not fool ourselves. To implement the many changes he has championed as a candidate—those things that brought the landslide of Electoral Votes to his column—will be a tough challenge. But I believe that with the direction of God, much can and will be accomplished.
Indeed there are many detractors and inhibitors among us; those whose ambition it is to tear at the fabric of our core beliefs as Americans and to subvert the cause of freedom and liberty given to us by God, Himself.
Let us all pray that our America will return to the constitutional foundations upon which our Republic was established, and that once again, We the People of the United States will be governed as One Nation, under God, with liberty and justice for all.
Please pray for the guidance of God, and for the life and safety of President Donald J. Trump.
