Greetings from Basic Gospel, everybody! I hope you are having a great, extended weekend in observance of Memorial Day on Monday.
As you probably know, Memorial Day is a U.S. holiday observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military. It originated, first called Decoration Day, some time after the Civil War and only in 1971 did it become an official, federal holiday.
We honor those who have forfeited their lives in battle in service to our country and pray for the day when no more are maimed or die in the wars of man.
This week, we address questions on out-of-control thoughts; baptism for salvation; and the transgender restroom issue. They are all hot topics. Let’s see if we can cool them down…
That’s the question from Kendrick, Dallas, who listens on KWRD-FM, “The Word”.
If you believe that baptism is necessary for salvation, what does that say about the gospel? Bob Christopher addresses the question from Erica, Ft. Worth, who also listens on KWRD-FM, “The Word”.
It’s the hot-button issue in U.S. society today. The Obama administration has dictated that public schools across the nation must open restrooms to all students, regardless of their physical sexual orientation. And this on pain of any school not in compliance losing its federal funding.
Beyond the educational system, some U.S. retailers have instituted changes to allow transgender access to their public restrooms. And not without great public outcry, calling for boycotts of those chains.
This is the subject broached by Alison, yet another Dallas listener.
I hope you have enjoyed and perhaps gotten some insight into one of the issues posed on this week’s inquiries. Next week, more penetrating questions and thoughtful, biblical answers on a new edition of Inside the Studio! Wishing you a great weekend and a greater new week!
