Joseph asks about sex before marriage. Does that defile the union that you desire after marriage? When you do get married, do you have to take your vows before God or just go to the courthouse? Daniel asks if forgiveness is contingent upon repentance or repenting? Bob explains that repentance is a much bigger word - it's really about going from death to life. Chris from Virginia asks what God's solution is to our timidity in sharing our faith with others? If fear of sharing an indicator that God is not wanting us to share with that particular person? When those feelings of fear come, what do we do with that? Jeff called to thank us for the ministry and to ask for direction in how to communicate with his friend. His friend is struggling with drugs, alcohol, and suffered the loss of both parents. How should he approach his friend with the Gospel? The answer is to simply talk to him about Jesus and let the power of the Gospel do it's work. Bob encourages all listeners to continue to keep our friend, Ryan, and his family in our prayers. Ryan is a dear listener of Basic Gospel and is facing terminal brain cancer with faith and trust in God. Please join with us as we continue to pray for God's perfect work in Ryan's life.

Ray in San Francisco asks why most gospel teachers complicate the message. They seem to always add works to the mix. Why don't they teach 'saved by grace, through faith'? Bob Davis brings up a recent article reporting that in England doctors are encouraged to call mothers 'pregnant people' in order to avoid offending transgender people. Samuel asks about Romans 10:9, "because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved." Is this a test for others to gauge someone's condition, or a test to examine ourselves? Mitch asks about "the just will live by faith, not by sight". Is that speaking to looking for signs from God or is it speaking about the meaning of faith?

Welcome to the Christmas edition of Basic Gospel Weekend! Bob, Bob, and Richard discuss the awe-inspiring gift of Jesus Christ. Through his birth, love came down and gave us hope. Through his death, we received forgiveness of sins and eternal life. God's Christmas gift to us was his son, Jesus Christ. As the angel proclaimed, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:10-11). All of us at Basic Gospel wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and God's richest blessings in the New Year!

Jose asks about attending church - do we have to attend church? Richard explains the importance of, not the requirement of, meeting together with like-minded believers. Kim asks a heart-wrenching question. If she decides to quit dialysis and let her body go, will God still receive her? Bob handles this question with compassion, concern, and truth from the Word of God. It's a powerful response. Chris asks about John 15:14, "you are my friends if you do what I command". Here's good news - when God looks down on the world, he sees two kinds of people - those who are lost and need salvation (the unrighteous) and those who are saved (the righteous). If you are a believer, you have been justified and are righteous in God's sight. Our friend, Clay, calls with a question about suicide. Does suicide negate salvation? Richard sets the record straight regarding this oft-misunderstood subject. Angela called to explain her understanding of faith. Bob shares Major Ian Thomas' insight on faith - first, it's the love of God initiated toward us, which results in our love for God, resulting in our dependence to God, resulting in obedience to God. Joe in KY asks about the New Covenant - does a Christian still have to tithe 10%? Andrew explains how New Covenant believers honor the Lord in their giving. Victor asks about "replacement" theology - believers who think they can replace Israel by keeping the Jewish customs. It's an interesting discussion. Brad in Missouri points to the verse in Matthew which speaks about "taking up the cross". Bob explains that our responsibility is simply to walk by faith.

Memorial Day is a U.S. holiday observed on the last Monday of May honoring the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military. It originated, first called Decoration Day, sometime after the Civil War, and only after 1971 did it become an official Federal holiday. We honor those who have forfeited their lives in battle and service to our country and pray for the day when no more are maimed or die in the wars of man.

This week we address issues on retail store boycotts over transgender restrooms, teaching and talk about fresh anointing from God, prayers by the Basic Gospel staff for our listeners and donors, and how to draw someone out of an Old Covenant mindset and into the New Covenant.

Alicia called to say thank you. She originally called over a year ago with high anxiety about her work situation. She wanted to let us know that now the grace of God is teaching her how to deal with her work issues in a whole new way. We could hear the change in her voice and we thank God for using Basic Gospel to make a difference in her life! In Alicia's words, "What an awesome God we serve!" Kathy called asking about what she calls "faith-failure". When life is full of trials, she finds herself focusing on the problem and not the Lord. Andrew gives great encouragement for Kathy and for all of us. Nelson calls to express his opinion that we are saved by grace; however, believers must work to be obedient. Bob points him to the truth that obedience is a result of the work of grace in our lives. As we continue to respond, by faith, to the finished work of Christ, we will see the fruit of that faith in our life. Annie asks for clarification on what will happen at the Rapture. Will those who are left have a chance to be saved or will it be too late? Bob and Richard both discuss this question at length. Thanks for joining us!

Dwight calls with a question about a most important issue - can a believer lose their salvation? Far from popular teaching, our behavior has nothing to do with salvation. It is faith in Christ that saves us and faith in Christ that allows us to live a life of freedom. At Basic Gospel, we explain it as "FIRST faith, THEN change". Kelly emailed a question asking if God is in control of our lives - if so, why do bad things happen to good people? The answer is that we live in a world that dominated by sin and death; however, the victory is God's and He conquers sin and death. We will live with Him eternally. Curt wonders how to relate to the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is our teacher and He reveals to us the meaning of the Word of God. For insight into the role of the Holy Spirit, helpful passages are John 14 & 16, Ephesians 3:14-21, 1 John chapter 2, and 1 Corinthians 2:9-16. Lee wonders why churches don't teach the New Covenant. It is the New Covenant that binds us together as children of God - Jew and Gentile. Mary Ann called expressing thanks for Basic Gospel and encourages others to join in supporting the ministry. Martha asks why she hears such conflicting information about sin and wonders what grace really means. Peter emails his question about the unpardonable sin - is it rejection of Jesus in the past or a continual rejection? We pray this edition will help you more fully understand the life we have in Christ!
