Our first caller asks about her marriage. After 54 years of marriage, her husband wants a divorce. He is in early stages of dementia and she doesn't know what to do. Mike emailed us with a question about how to minister and show compassion and love to the people he encounters in his job as a policeman. The job and his faith seem contradictory at times. Jan asked about the teaching he heard about power in a woman's long hair. Deron asks about Jesus' taking our sins at the cross. Is that why Jesus cried out "Why have you forsaken me?" Did the spirit of God temporarily leave him? Tom is coming out of self-imposed legalism. The New Covenant seems too simple. What's the catch?

This edition of Basic Gospel Weekend celebrates the Resurrection of Christ Jesus. Without the resurrection, there is no life for the believer. Jesus was raised from the dead and therefore was able to restore us to life eternal. Matt called to ask about judgment. Will believers be required to give an account for our lives? Patty in Denver asks how we keep the joy of our salvation when troubles come our way. It is hard to keep our focus on Jesus when we are in the midst of trouble. Eula Lee asks about the Lord's Prayer. Should it be recited in church service? What is the proper way to look at this prayer?

Welcome to the Christmas edition of Basic Gospel Weekend! Bob, Bob, and Richard discuss the awe-inspiring gift of Jesus Christ. Through his birth, love came down and gave us hope. Through his death, we received forgiveness of sins and eternal life. God's Christmas gift to us was his son, Jesus Christ. As the angel proclaimed, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:10-11). All of us at Basic Gospel wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and God's richest blessings in the New Year!

Karen asks about how the proud can receive God's grace. Pride is a part of our heart before coming to Christ. Once we are humbled, recognizing we can't do it on our own, then we are ready for God's grace.

Jeremy asks do we ask forgiveness for every sin in our life? Other ministries seem to say we need to keep 'short accounts' with God. There is good news - you are genuinely at peace with God. There is no in or out of fellowship. Bill is an agnostic and asks what is the original Gospel? Bill questions the gospel accounts. He's asking for proof that Jesus Christ is God. Richard does a great job of communicating with Bill. Veronica asks about tithing. She and her husband send support to his family members in the Dominican Republic. Is she still required to tithe? The New Covenant calls us to the "grace of giving". It is all about walking by faith and following the leading of the Holy Spirit. Earnest asks about the names of Jesus. Hebrews called him Yeshua. How did the name Jesus come about? Marcus asks for clarification on the judgment seat of Christ. If our sins have all been forgiven why would we have to come to the judgment seat? Andrew gives great clarification on this issue. You will be encouraged by his answer and will look at the judgment seat in a different way! Thanks for joining us!

Gary is puzzled by the scriptures who refers to the "Son of Man" - why does Jesus describe himself in that way? Richard and Bob lead Gary in a discussion of the miracle of Jesus becoming fully human while remaining fully God - on our behalf. Joyce is attending a church that focuses on a ritual of foot washing. Andrew helps her see the meaning of this act and encourages her to follow the Lord's lead in whether to participate or not. Sharon is experiencing a heart-wrenching situation in her family - there is a pattern of grudges and incomplete reconciliation. How do they experience true healing? Bob takes her to 1 Corinthians 13 - love keeps no record of wrongs. Hebrews 12:15 holds important insight for this problem - missing the grace of God. Truth from the Word of God and embracing the grace of God is the key to breaking this destructive pattern. Annie wonders why her pastor is resigning from the church and beginning another. Bob helps her focus on the true leader of the church. The church can rest in Jesus Christ to work this situation for good through the body of believers. Teresa questions the practice of canonizing saints - aren't we all declared saints in the Word of God? An interesting question with great spiritual application. Thank you for joining us this week!

Gregory, listening from the Dallas area on the WORD, asks, "What does the Bible mean when it talks about obedience? Is it like obeying a person who might say, ` do this, and do that'? Bob explains that when we see God demonstrating His love to us over and beyond measure, we start responding back to His love, with love. We love, because He first loved us. This leads us to a life of dependance on God, as well as a response of obedience to God's love for us.

Ali from Buffalo New York shares with listeners that the Koran says that Christ is the Messiah, not just King of Jews, but rather, King of everyone. Muslims do not believe that Jesus was crucified or resurrected, but was "taken away" by the Gods, and will return one day to lead us into all righteousness. Bob invites Ali to re-examine the crucifixion, and that without the crucifixion and resurrection, we are still dead in our sins.

Clay from Hutto, Texas calls to remind listeners that we cannot forget that Jesus was conceived differently than any baby. We cannot deny the Virgin Birth. The word became flesh and dwelt among us 9 months earlier with Mary.

Young Aliah from the Bronx asks about certain sects that claim people who church on Sundays worship the "sun god". Bob explains that we worship on Sunday to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Aliyah continues to be puzzled by people worrying about it. Why not just let us worship God on Sundays? Man looks on the outside, but God looks on the heart. I Samuel 16:7

"Let the little children come unto Me." Rose called to asks about sharing the Gospel with children. Bob encourages her to keep sharing the Good News with them. An email question from Fidela about whether to take radiation and chemotherapy. A friend has said that taking treatment is a lack of faith in God. Bob encourages her to seek what the Lord would have her do, rather than the influence of friends. Bob takes a few minutes to share our vision for Basic Gospel for the next 3 years. Everything we do is to let people know that, in Christ, they can be fully alive and can fully trust in Him. Join with us and help spread the word about Jesus Christ to people who need to hear it! Visit http://basicgospel.net/support to join the Basic Gospel team. The world is in turmoil and is full of darkness. Only the Gospel can clear the confusion and dispel the darkness. Join with us to share the light of the World - Jesus Christ! Ron asks an important question, how was Jesus tempted, yet perfect? Bob explains that because Jesus was tempted in every way, we can go to Him in our own temptation, knowing He knows how you feel and you can trust Him to lead you through your situation. We end with John's call wondering how to minister to a friend's son who believes that if you do not observe the "Sabbath", then you are not saved.

We begin this week's edition with a call from Cynthia who is passionate about calling the church to prayer regarding the things of the world. Bob speaks from the heart about this subject and reminds us that our calling is to be a voice in this dark world, sharing the good news about Christ. Colossians 2:22-3 was the subject of Jose's email - if we have died with Christ, are we set free from the rules of the world? Anthony shares his concern regarding serving other people. If we reach out to people, how do we avoid taking on their problems as our own. Andrew has a great perspective and set Anthony's mind at ease. Antoine asks the question, "is salvation as simple as John 3:16 or do we need deeper knowledge?" Bob reassures him that the path to salvation is simply "by grace, through faith". Our last question is from Ron who asks for clarification on Hebrews 4:15 - how was Jesus tempted in every way and yet remained without sin? Bob points out that this scripture should teach us that God certainly knows everything we are going through and that Jesus understands our temptations. We can trust in the Father, just as Jesus did. As you listen to David's call, if you join him in receiving the life of Christ, please email bob@basicgospel.net and we will send you resources to help you in your journey of grace!
