We who believe enter God's rest by faith. When we enter we rest from our works just as he rested from his. Jesus sympathizes with our weakness and invites us to his throne of grace. It is there we will receive mercy and find grace in our time of need.

Hebrews lifts up Jesus like no other book in the New Testament and sets his message apart as the final word from God to us. If we really want to know God's desire for us we need to pay attention to Jesus. We need to listen to Him, listen to the message and give ourselves over to that message, and receive it in it's fullness. Today we look at the beginning of Chapter 3 and the truth that we share in a heavenly calling.

Why should we pay such close attention to this salvation we've been offered in Jesus? Because knowing how great a gift you have been given changes your life! Jesus became a human being and experienced suffering and death so that we might become his family. Now we see Jesus crowned in glory because he conquered death. Therefore we are brothers and sisters with Him. That's the good news of Hebrews!

Jeff in Texas asks if there is a right way to pray for healing for his son, Jack. What should his expectation be as an answer to his request for healing? Wendy in Oregon asks "What do I do when I've blown it big-time with God."? A Google search did not bring much comfort. The question should be "What does God do when I sin?" He reminds us of the forgiveness we have because of Christ Jesus. Corey asks about conviction vs. condemnation. Being constantly attacked by evil sometimes causes doubt. How does a believer respond? Rick from California asks if not accepting the Lord the only reason someone wouldn't get into Heaven?

Romans 3:31 is often misunderstood. Many are confused because of the phrase we should "uphold the law". What does that mean in light of the New Covenant? Our good friend Ryan in Canada asks about hyper-grace. What does that mean and what is the true nature of the grace of God? Bob answers the critics of Gods grace. Maria thanks us for teaching Christ and Christ alone. Her comment was a great encouragement to us and led to a great discussion with Andrew and Bob regarding prophecy. The story about Jesus is good news from beginning to end! It doesn't get any better than that!

The entire Word of God revolves around Jesus. Our salvation, assurance, and hope rests on his shoulders. If he hadn't completed his work, we would have no hope. With Jesus, we have everything. These 5 truths ignite a reformation in hearts today just as it did 500 years ago in the Protestant Reformation: Scripture alone, grace alone, faith alone, Jesus alone, for the glory of God alone. These are the things that people struggle with. Mark asks if there is any scripture that remotely supports the idea that a Christian can be demon-possessed? When we sin, are we responsible to repent and turn to the Lord? Joel asks about prophecy. Are the recent hurricanes, fires, and terrorism signs of the end times? Is Revelation a road map for what will actually happen? The truth is that we can be a part of God's great rescue mission today and every day until the Lord comes back.

Mike emailed us with a question about how to minister and show compassion and love to the people he encounters in his job as a policeman. The job and his faith seem contradictory at times. Jan asked about the teaching he heard about power in a woman's long hair. Deron asks about Jesus' taking our sins at the cross. Is that why Jesus cried out "Why have you forsaken me?" Did the spirit of God temporarily leave him? Tom is coming out of self-imposed legalism. The New Covenant seems too simple. What's the catch?

Welcome to the Christmas edition of Basic Gospel Weekend! Bob, Bob, and Richard discuss the awe-inspiring gift of Jesus Christ. Through his birth, love came down and gave us hope. Through his death, we received forgiveness of sins and eternal life. God's Christmas gift to us was his son, Jesus Christ. As the angel proclaimed, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord" (Luke 2:10-11). All of us at Basic Gospel wish you and your family a wonderful Christmas and God's richest blessings in the New Year!

Truth from the Word of God and embracing the grace of God is the key to breaking this destructive pattern. Annie wonders why her pastor is resigning from the church and beginning another. Bob helps her focus on the true leader of the church. The church can rest in Jesus Christ to work this situation for good through the body of believers.
