Bob, Bob and Richard discuss the horrifying event in Las Vegas. What goes on in someone's mind that brings a person to commit such heinous acts? It is pure evil. Our hearts go out to the victims and those who love them. The trauma of this will manifest in many different ways. We pray that they would turn to the Word of God for answers. Kristin asks about how 1 Corinthians 1:1-5 should be applied today. Bob and Richard explain the hard passage of Hebrews 10:26-29. What is the "fearful expectation of judgment"? Is this passage true for believers? An email question asks about Adam and Eve - did they really die spiritually? Did anyone in the Old Testament go to Heaven? Abraham believed what God revealed to him and God credited it to him as righteousness. All are saved by grace, through Christ-whether under the Old Covenant or the New Covenant.

This week we hear from Eugene who wonders how he is qualified to share the message of Christ when he still struggles with sin. Rose asks for help in releasing long-held anger towards a friend. She worries that God won't forgive her if she can't forgive her friend. Brad called to encourage listeners that they truly can know and experience life in Christ. He reminds us of Hebrews 12:2, "keep your eyes on Jesus, the author and finisher of faith". Ralph asks if we are still bound by the 10 Commandments. Andrew explains that the law is not dead - but, as believers, WE are dead to the law. Andrew says, "If you are flirting with the Law, you are cheating on Jesus. Jesus Christ is enough for us." And, finally, Richard Peifer shares his thoughts about freedom. Everything in the world tries to drive us back to bondage. But, we have freedom in Christ! Enjoy this edition of Basic Gospel Weekend!

Autumn in Dallas asks about repentance - she is not sure she has repented sufficiently and therefore is not sure of her salvation. Bob gives a thorough explanation of repentance. This call ends with a prayer of salvation. Trudy in Idaho asks about her friends choice of church. The pastor claims to be a seer and is preaching about past lives. He has psychic readings, group readings for $50 each, etc. Her friends believe what he is teaching. How does she counsel her friends?

Calvin asks if it is normal for a believer to have blood pressure problems and anxiety. Bob points Calvin to the need for a thankful heart, recognizing Christ as a guard over your heart and mind. Curt asks about the Sermon on the Mount. Is it part of the Law? Bob explains the "inside-out" aspect of the Sermon on the Mount. An anonymous question asks what encouragement can be given to a former caregiver who made decisions that had horrible consequences. How do you restore them? Karen asks about how the proud can receive God's grace. Pride is a part of our heart before coming to Christ. Once we are humbled, recognizing we can't do it on our own, then we are ready for God's grace.

Len asks about Proverbs 11:29. How do I apply this verse to my pending divorce? My child is full of anger and resentment. Ryan is concerned that he might not have been saved early on because of his addiction to pornography. Was he saved then or was he saved only when he `repented' of that addiction? Andrew answers with compassion and truth. Cindy asks about the scripture "show thyself approved" ... how does that apply to those with learning disabilities who may not be able to read/grasp the Word. Andrew and Bob warn about making Christianity one-size-fits-all. Ron asks how important it is to understand the history of the times of the Bible? Bob explains the revelation by the Holy Spirit vs. historical knowledge.

Are the 10 Commandments still in effect? That was Barry's question and one we often receive. The law serves a function but it is not a guide for the believer. Andrew gives a complete explanation on this topic. Cynthia asks about the proper response for issues like the current transgender restroom controversy. Bob warns to keep your focus on Jesus not on "issues". These issues are a matter of truth vs. error. Cynthia had a "light bulb" moment - maybe you will too! Dwight called with an assertion that didn't line up with scripture. Is there a job we have to do to guarantee our place in Heaven? Bob answer is loud and clear - salvation is a gift of God. Period. Our friend William calls to remind us that we are to keep our eyes on Jesus. Behavioral change is only possible by walking by faith in Jesus Christ. Kelly shares his struggle with alcohol. This addiction is stealing his peace and he lives in shame and guilt. This heart-wrenching call will resonate with your heart. Andrew gives insight with compassion, truth, and hope.

Memorial Day is a U.S. holiday observed on the last Monday of May honoring the men and women who have died while serving in the U.S. military. It originated, first called Decoration Day, sometime after the Civil War, and only after 1971 did it become an official Federal holiday. We honor those who have forfeited their lives in battle and service to our country and pray for the day when no more are maimed or die in the wars of man.

This week we address issues on retail store boycotts over transgender restrooms, teaching and talk about fresh anointing from God, prayers by the Basic Gospel staff for our listeners and donors, and how to draw someone out of an Old Covenant mindset and into the New Covenant.

This edition of Basic Gospel Weekend addresses some deep, thought-provoking questions. Jess asks for clarification on Jesus coming back to bring vengeance on those who don't obey the Gospel. The answer lies in belief and faith. Sab from England asks why God killed and destroyed people in the Old Testament. Martha asks why she hears such conflicting information about sin and wonders what grace really means. Kevin is distraught about all the trials he is going through and wonders why God would allow it to happen. Bob leads Kevin to think about truth - that God loves him and sent Jesus to die for him, not to punish him. Kevin stands today as a forgiven person and can trust God. Peter emails his question about the unpardonable sin - is it rejection of Jesus in the past or a continual rejection? We pray this edition will help you more fully understand the life we have in Christ!

Don't we need to ask forgiveness? Hazel poses a question about the validity of the 10 Commandments in our life today - don't they still apply? Anthony asks, "How do I keep the joy of the Lord when I am under such stress and pressure in my workplace?" Danny received grace and mercy when he broke the law in his youth. Should he not file charges against those he apprehends in his current job as a security guard? Bob clarifies our position on these issues and gives Anthony and Danny practical, powerful encouragement in dealing with their job issues.

This week's Basic Gospel Weekend edition is full of good news! We invite you to listen as we address these topics:

  • David expresses his doubts about his salvation. Andrew and Bob share the Gospel and ask him to invite Jesus into his life. Powerful call!
  • Roberta asks about the word "agape". Bob explains that agape love is the one-way unconditional love of God and that it is an action word - God is actively loving us, being patient with us, and kind to us.
  • The 10 Commandments - are they still applicable today? Bob gives a great explanation of the Old and New Covenants. The New Covenant never is contrary to the 10 Commandments; however, because of Christ, we live in the New Covenant with its' laws of faith, hope and love.
  • John is a Jewish man actively considering converting to Christianity. His concern is about the curse found in Deuteronomy. Bob explains that everything is reconciled through Jesus Christ. He takes away the curse of the law - he took the curse upon Himself so that we could be set free. When we trust Christ by faith, we cross over from death to life and there is no condemnation for us! That's some good news!
