We begin this week with a tribute to Rich Andresen, Chairman of the Board of Basic Gospel, who passed away this past Sunday. He loved Basic Gospel, he loved and blessed the staff in many ways, and he was a treasured and effective leader. We will miss Rich but we rejoice that he is now in the arms of his Savior. James in Denver called to ask how to lead a friend to Christ but doesn't want to attend church. Andrew asks why so many people continue to teach "tithing" instead of New Covenant giving. Jim in Dallas is not a Christian and bases his decision on Revelation 12:9. David asks about making estate decisions; he wants to leave a portion to charity but thinks that his children would be upset.

Calvin begins by asking if it is normal for a believer to have depression, anxiety, and stress? Why, as a saved person, do I let Satan control me like this? An email question asks about how to encourage a caregiver who made a decision that turned out not to be the right decision. They now are full of guilt and shame. Eddie asks about Matthew 13. Why would Jesus talk to the people in parables if he knew they wouldn't understand his point? Chris asks an interesting question. If God will accomplish His will with or without us, what is the significance of us participating? Do our "works" really matter? Perry comments on Romans 8:15 and how it ministered to him. He expresses thanks for Basic Gospel and the simple message of God's love and grace. It has made a difference in his life.

Sandra in Dallas asks how to make financial decisions while her husband if looking for employment. If they sell a piece of property, how much of it should she tithe? Curtis called with his story - when he joined the service, he was told he could never be saved because of the first commandment. This damage followed him for years. Then he started listening to Basic Gospel and found the truth and is now walking in the love of God. His life changed dramatically. This is a powerful testimony and one that we should all hear. Lorraine called to express her understanding of holiness and to thank us for the truth she hears on the broadcast. Miles called to share his realization that he doesn't have to argue and coerce people regarding his belief. God will reveal God. He asks how to handle political views with people he knows will be against his view. Andrew gives great insight. Jan called to express her opinion that there is a difference between forgiveness and consequences. Bob points out that God doesn't send the consequences - that's built in to the sin itself. Lucy asks about Revelation 3:19 - does God rebuke and discipline? Bob calls this a "very positive statement". Listen and find out why. Allen's question is about Matthew 12. Is speaking against the Holy Spirit the unpardonable sin?

Alicia called to say thank you. She originally called over a year ago with high anxiety about her work situation. She wanted to let us know that now the grace of God is teaching her how to deal with her work issues in a whole new way. We could hear the change in her voice and we thank God for using Basic Gospel to make a difference in her life! In Alicia's words, "What an awesome God we serve!" Kathy called asking about what she calls "faith-failure". When life is full of trials, she finds herself focusing on the problem and not the Lord. Andrew gives great encouragement for Kathy and for all of us. Nelson calls to express his opinion that we are saved by grace; however, believers must work to be obedient. Bob points him to the truth that obedience is a result of the work of grace in our lives. As we continue to respond, by faith, to the finished work of Christ, we will see the fruit of that faith in our life. Annie asks for clarification on what will happen at the Rapture. Will those who are left have a chance to be saved or will it be too late? Bob and Richard both discuss this question at length. Thanks for joining us!

David in Brooklyn, NY asks how God is involved in our pain and suffering. God is sovereign and all-powerful so is He the author of the horrible things in our lives? God is not the author of evil, never tempts us with sin. Difficult circumstances serve to highlight God's promise that He will work all things together for good. We will experience trouble, trials and tribulations but we have hope in the midst of those things - the work and person of Jesus Christ. Mike in Oregon asks about Calvinism - why does Calvin get so much credit? Many theologians have studied his writings. What we need to remember is that if we are going to know anything about Jesus, it will be revealed to us by the Holy Spirit. Maryann in Kentucky called to thank Basic Gospel for the teaching and to encourage the listeners to prayerfully consider supporting the ministry both financially and through prayer. Clay asks about Zacharias - why was he rendered speechless? Gwen is struggling with trusting God. Circumstances are tough and she wonders why God is not intervening in her trials. Bob helps her focus on the fact that Jesus is bigger and God's love for her. Thanks for joining us today and we pray you will find something in this broadcast to help you stand in truth!

This weekend edition highlights real life issues and addresses how we, as believers, can respond.

  • Anthony asks a great question - How do you resolve conflict in marriage? Bob helps Anthony see that his wife's number one need is security and that his number one need is respect. The most loving thing a husband can do is communicate to his wife that she is secure in her husband's love. Spend time letting her know that she's number one in your life.
  • Clay expresses his recommendation of Simple Gospel Simply Grace. "The book found me ... I really like it a lot. I like it so much, I don't want to finish it!"
  • Darrell is disturbed by the response of his pastor regarding gay marriage. Bob's advice is applicable to all of us in this issue. We have to look at any situation with this question - "Where do we go for truth?". The Word of God should be our authority.
  • Craig is struggling with certain lifestyle choices. His choices render him tormented, regretful and then doubts his own salvation. Bob cuts through the behaviors to the real problem - self-pity. He encourages Craig to shift his focus from his behaviors to Jesus Christ. We receive assurance from all that He has accomplished on our behalf.
  • George called to thank the ministry for resources. He says that he now knows he is saved and is experiencing freedom in Christ!
